What do you do?
I co-founded the multi-award-winning touring theatre company Boo To A Goose Theatre in 2016, having moved to Devon and taken the decision to focus on creating original theatre performances for children and families living in this county. Prior to this I had studied Theatre & Performance at UCLan following 12 years working as Learning Mentor, Behaviour Support Worker and Education Welfare Officer in London, Essex and Lancashire. Working in primary schools, I helped children overcome barriers to learning, provided drama clubs, parenting classes and supported children with neuro-diversity and additional needs.
As producer for Boo To A Goose, I apply for funding to support each project, which has resulted in 12 funded projects since 2017. We make our work accessible and provide a safe and happy environment in which families can play and learn, where we can explore complex situations and emotions and challenge stereotypes. Our performances are relaxed and multi-sensory with puppetry and original singalong songs and always provide opportunities to participate. Since 2016 we have been building relationships with schools, libraries and community venues, as well as working with community partners to provide inter-generational activities.
I love the challenge of creating new characters for each show and interacting with all the lovely children and families we meet. This year I was delighted to receive the Influential Businesswoman Award: Theatre Producer of the Year 2024 (SW England).
