What do you do?
We are a grade II* building that is currently undergoing restoration. Since it was started in 1560 it has been a private home, a surgical and maternity hospital, 2 schools and a nursing home. We hold cultural events throughout the year which include Shakespeare in the grounds, Wardour Garrison reenactment weekend , Poltimore Art exhibition (47 artists showing their work this year), open days and tours outlining the heritage link to the area (the Treaty of Exeter was signed here). Each year we host the Exeter Symphony Orchestra for an open air performance and also host a Christmas fair. We have also provided a venue for Exeter university drama students to perform their final evaluation.
All of the site is run by volunteers. The roles include: grounds and house maintenance, horticulture , events organising and management, working in the onsite café, managing website and social media, fundraising.
Who would you like to collaborate with?
The whole of East Devon! In particular artists, theatre groups and musicians who can use the space as a venue.
